Job Summary
Provides comprehensive support and services to veterans and their families, assisting them in navigating benefits, resources, and entitlements.
Job Responsibilities
* Interview veterans, their dependents, and survivors to determine eligibility for federal, state, and local benefits, including compensation, pension, healthcare, education, and employment services.
* Assist in completing and submitting complex application forms and required documentation to various government agencies.
* Research and interpret federal and state laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to veterans' benefits.
* Advocate on behalf of veterans with federal, state, and local agencies to resolve benefit-related issues and ensure timely processing of claims.
* Provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding available resources, programs, and services.
* Conduct outreach activities to inform the veteran community about benefits and services.
* Maintain confidential records and case files in accordance with established procedures.
* Collaborate with other service providers and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for veterans.
* Prepare reports and maintain statistical data related to services provided.
Job Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED in a related field (e.g., social work, public administration, human services) and two years of experience working with veterans or in a similar service-oriented role, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state veterans' benefits, laws, and regulations.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to empathize and build rapport with diverse individuals.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
* Proficient in using computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various locations for outreach and appointments.
* Prior military service or experience working directly with the military community is highly desirable.
* Ability to pass a background check.
