Job Title: Voting Systems Generalist
Department: Information Technology – Voting Systems
Supervisor: Deputy Director – Voting Systems
FLSA: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Voting Systems, this position provides operational, technical, and training support to Georgia’s county election offices as a member of the Information Technology Voting Systems team. The Voting Systems Generalist is responsible for supporting statewide election technology initiatives, coordinating election equipment testing and deployment activities, providing county-level technical assistance, conducting election systems training, maintaining voting system inventory, supporting election readiness activities, and assisting with ballot building operations.
This position serves as a liaison between county election officials, vendors, and the Secretary of State’s Office to ensure the secure, accurate, and efficient operation of Georgia’s voting systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Election Systems Operations
- Coordinate and support statewide election readiness activities.
- Assist with election equipment validation and acceptance testing.
- Assist with in-house ballot building operations and election preparation activities.
- Support Election Day operations and provide technical assistance to county election offices during elections.
- Participate in post-election reviews, audits, and equipment reconciliation activities.
- Support the rollout of election-related initiatives, technology upgrades, and process improvements.
County Support and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a primary point of contact for county election officials regarding voting system operations and technical support.
- Maintain professional relationships with county election supervisors, staff,vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, election readiness activities, and operational updates to leadership and county partners.
- Assist counties with troubleshooting voting system and election management system issues.
Training and Knowledge Management
- Coordinate and deliver voting system training programs for county election officials and staff.
- Create and maintain training materials, user guides, standard operating procedures, and reference documentation.
- Support statewide training initiatives and certification programs.
Equipment and Asset Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all state-owned voting system equipment.
- Coordinate equipment deployment, recovery, maintenance, replacement, and lifecycle management activities.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconciliation activities.
- Assist with equipment shipping, logistics, warehousing, and distribution efforts.
Technical Support and Systems Administration
- Support voting system servers, workstations, election management systems, and related infrastructure.
- Assist with system installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal IT teams to resolve technical issues.
- Support system upgrades, software releases, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Maintain familiarity with election management databases and related reporting tools.
Project Management and Continuous Improvement
- Design, coordinate, and execute short-term and long-term projects supporting election operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes, operational efficiency, and customer service.
- Develop recommendations for technology enhancements and operational improvements.
Security and Compliance
- Support election cybersecurity initiatives and security best practices.
- Assist with security assessments, audits, compliance reviews, and incident response activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency policies governing election systems and equipment.
- Maintain chain-of-custody and security procedures for election equipment and data.
General Responsibilities
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Accept direction and feedback from supervisors and follow through appropriately.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with users, stakeholders, vendors, and peers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in election administration, information technology, technical support, training, project coordination, or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Information Systems, Political Science, Public Administration, Education, or a related field
- Experience supporting election systems or election administration.
- Experience with voting systems, election management systems, or ballot building operations.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs.
- Experience with inventory management and asset tracking.
- Experience supporting statewide or large-scale technology deployments.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Project Management, or related certifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of election processes, voting systems, and election technology.
- Knowledge of desktop, server, and network technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Strong customer service, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and make sound decisions.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to travel throughout the State of Georgia.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Frequent statewide travel required.
- Extended work hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required during election preparation periods, early voting, and Election Day operations.
- Position may require participation in on-call support rotations during critical election periods.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR Associate's/Vocational/Technical degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of related experience OR Five years of related experience.
