Job Description:

Job Summary:

This is hourly paid work assisting in educational instruction and testing duties. Positions in this job are established for less than 9 months or are scheduled for less than 30 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment
• Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
• Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas
• Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets  drawings, and similar handouts
• Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and  role playing
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
• Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional  materials
• Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials
• Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures
• Participate in professional growth activities
• Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

     Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution preferred
• Experience working with at risk youth
• Experience as a teacher's aide or office clerk
• Paraprofessional certification
