Job Description:

Savannah Technical College is seeking a Machine & Tool/CNC Technology program instructor. The instructor is responsible for teaching students in classroom and lab environments as well as advising students and performing various departmental and school wide assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and retention of students.
  • Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.
  • Other duties include reporting inventory, school-wide planning, providing registration assistance, working on projects with other instructional areas and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Instruction.
  • Flexible work schedule hours to include day/evening classes.

Education and Occupational Experiences

  • Successful candidate will have either an Associates Degree or Diploma in Machine & Tool with either CNC background or the ability to quickly achieve CNC credentials; or a CNC degree/diploma but with actual and verifiable work experience in Machine & Tool or a separate credential in Machine & Tool.
  • Must have five (5) years of direct work experience within the past seven (7) years.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills along with computer skills. 
  • Teaching experience at a postsecondary institution is desirable.

Physical Demands

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects, and must be able to lift up to 70LBS. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical wiring. The ability to speak clearly is required. The ability to hear and understand at a normal conversational level is required.

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
