We are currently seeking a Physician/Psychiatrist to join our team at Oconee Center.  The Physician/Psychiatrist will be making a difference in the lives of our clients every day.  We are located in the heart of Middle Georgia State where we enjoy abundant recreational opportunities, and a family friendly environment with good schools and opportunities for the entire family to be involved. The ideal candidate will have a friendly and easy going personality while also being very perceptive and disciplined. The goal is to make guests and visitors feel comfortable and valued while on our premises.

Duties Summary:

The Physician/Psychiatrist’s general objective is to be responsible for the management and treatment of Psychiatric clients where the treatment could include psychiatric evaluations, pharmacotherapy and medication management with follow up to maintain the stability of the patient that is treated. The successful candidate will perform psychiatric evaluations and treatment of a diverse population of mental health, addictive disease and developmental disability consumers in a community mental health outpatient setting. Complete all required paperwork for internal and external regulatory authorities.

 

Responsibilities:

The individual in this role will provide direct care. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

·         Provides consultative services to clinical staff, including review and evaluating treatment plans, provides medical information relevant to the development of the treatment plan. 

·         Provides direct diagnostic and treatment services for adults/children and adolescents.  Treats clients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with clients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications; supervising staff provision of services.

·         Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.

·         Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.

·         Assures quality and safe service for clients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) Commission for Accreditation(CARF) of Rehabilitation facilities requirements, and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; remaining available for emergency consultations.

·         Improves staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.

·         Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; writing summaries.

·         Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

·         Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. ·         Provides comprehensive medical services by examining clients, diagnosing conditions and providing treatments. Directs nurses, aides and others in the care and treatment of clients.
Consults with client manager about change in diagnosis or treatment modalities. 

·         May act as delegated physician of record for specific clinical nurse specialist(s).

Travel:

Local travel is expected for this position. 5% – 10%

 

Position Type/Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

 

 

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Previous experience in mental/behavioral health field.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Submit to and pass a pre-employment:
    • Drug screen
    • DBHDD Background check
    • No more than four (4) points on a seven (7) year Motor Vehicle Report ?
      *If more than (4) points an approved DDS course to reduce points must be taken.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from a medical school recognized by the composite state board of medical examiner or license eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience using electronic health record system.

·         Experience in treating persons with serious and persistent mental illness, substance abuse disorders and intellectual or developmental disabilities.

·         In addition to the minimum qualification preferred experience in a Behavioral Health setting and Board Certified Psychiatrist.

·         Desired Board eligible in psychiatry.

·         Experience with primary care psychiatry,

·         Experience working with underserved, transient populations and clinical comorbidities (cooccurring mental health, substance abuse, and physical health problems).

·         Possess a valid driver’s license

·         Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks

·         Relevant work experience in Behavioral health patient care is highly preferred.

·         Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with clients of all ages

·         Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities

·         Problem-solving skills complaint
