Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Dental Hygiene) in the Health and Public Safety Department of the Academic Affairs division.  This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s Main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 

Under general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technology, the Full-Time Instructor (Dental Hygiene) is responsible for preparing and delivering quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom, dental lab & clinical settings. 

 

Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

• Prepares and delivers quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom, dental lab & clinical settings.

• Demonstrate the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.

• Demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the Dental Hygiene field.

• Follow approved curriculum standards and course syllabus. 

• Monitor student use of supplies, materials, and equipment. 

• Advise and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records on each student.  

• Maintain classrooms, clinics, and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.

• Attend meetings as required.

• Observe and enforce the institution’s policies and regulations. 

• Assist with student recruitment and job placement.  Serves on committees. 

• Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards. 

• Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
• Assist in the development of reports and other requirements for Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) agencies; and
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

MIIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Dental Hygiene AND Three (3) or more years of paid full-time work experience and teaching experience in a dental hygiene program.

 

CERTTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Georgia State Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in Good Standing

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by American Heart Association

• Local Anesthesia Certification

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate a Master's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university in a health-related field AND Five (5) or more years of paid full-time work experience and teaching experience in a dental hygiene program
