Description
The mission of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) is to build the best prepared, best qualified, and most ethical education workforce in the nation. PSC sets and applies high standards for the preparation, certification, and continued licensing of Georgia public educators. The Educator Ethics Division of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission is authorized by law to investigate reports of specified criminal conduct, violations of professional or ethical codes of conduct, and violations of certain rules, regulations, and policies by school system educators. The Commission imposes disciplinary action or a denial of a certificate against an educator. In addition, the Commission is charged with adopting standards of performance and a code of ethics for educators. For additional information about PSC, please see www.gapsc.com.
The individual in this position serves as the Chief Case Administrator, which is part of the Ethics Division Management Team. Works closely with the Division Director and Chief Investigator to ensure effective case management. Directs the case administrative process and supervises the case administration staff. Provides technical assistance to internal and external clients.
Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:
Plans, organizes, and evaluates job functions of subordinates.
- Organizes, delegates responsibilities, and schedules activities of the administrative staff (clerical and legal) to accomplish optimal work quality.
- Supervises and evaluates assigned staff in accordance with established procedures.
- Communicates regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals and/or required results, providing specific feedback, and initiating corrective action when needed.
Coordinates the case administrative process.
- Coordinates the evaluation of complaints by the Ethics Division management team to determine if an investigation is warranted and within the legal authority of the PSC and prepares recommendations for the Commission.
- Monitors investigation case summary reports submitted for Commission reviews for legality, completeness, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Supervises the preparation of Educator Ethics Review Committee (EERC) and Commission Reports.
- Attends EERC and PSC meetings and presents reports and other information as requested.
- Coordinates transfer of investigative files to the Office f the Attorney General.
- Coordinates the preparation of any additional information requested by the Attorney General’s office. Assists in the acquisition of additional evidence and the acquisition of certified copies, updated witness information, subpoena service, etc.
- Assists with the preparation of cases for prosecution.
- Attends administrative hearings as necessary.
Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships both internally and externally. Stays abreast of all regulations, guidelines, and laws governing the Ethics Division and PSC. Collects, maintains, and analyzes ethics management data, including but not limited to tracking and providing reports on incoming and outgoing cases, status of cases, violations of the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators, Communicates with external audiences.
- Makes presentations as required.
- Provides assistance to state agencies, school systems, educator preparation providers, educators, educational organizations, the general public, and other stakeholders as needed.

Agency Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in law, criminal justice, or a related field from an accredited college or university AND at least five years of experience supervising or managing investigations of an organization, agency, and/or GaPSC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience managing professional level staff OR Eight years of related professional experience AND Four years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Four years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 2, Business Ops (GSM011) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
