Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Charge Nurse at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

 

 Salary: $98,500.00

Job Responsibilities

• Supervises, guides, and instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for an assigned unit or shift.
• Ensures nursing staff properly assess patients’ health problems and needs.
• Develops and implements nursing care plans and ensures medical records are maintained accurately.
• Supervises the provision and quality of nursing care provided to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients.
• Provides guidance to nursing staff regarding patient care, policies, procedures, and appropriate clinical practices.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments and ensures proper documentation.
• Coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Advises patients regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment planning.
• Coordinates staffing, assignments, and daily nursing operations for the assigned unit or shift.
• Ensures nursing services comply with established standards, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Provides training and clinical guidance to nursing and support staff.
• May provide case-management services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and a current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse, plus:

• Four years of professional nursing experience, including two years in a lead-worker, team-leader, managerial, or supervisory role; or
• One year of experience at the lower-level Registered Nurse 3, job code HCP072, or an equivalent position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, or nursing supervisor.
• Experience working in a behavioral health, psychiatric, hospital, long-term-care, or skilled-nursing setting.
• Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions or developmental disabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and provide direction to nursing staff.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and patient-care skills.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and four (4) years of professional nursing experience; which includes two (2) years in a lead worker, team leader, or managerial/supervisory role; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Registered Nurse 3 (HCP072) or position equivalent.
