Job Description:

General Duties: The Associate of Science in Education Instructor is responsible for all aspects of instruction within the AS in Education program. Responsibilities include developing program and course outlines, goals, objectives, lesson plans, and instructional materials for credit technical and occupational courses. The instructor evaluates student progress in attaining learning outcomes, maintains program certification requirements as applicable, prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports, and requests and manages instructional supplies, equipment, and budget needs. The instructor ensures that safety and security requirements are met in all instructional areas and works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to support student success. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students, assisting with student recruitment, retention, and job placement activities, participating in professional development opportunities, committee work, and performing other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements: A master's degree in Education from an accredited college or university is required. Candidates must have a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the Education discipline. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates will possess a minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations in a classroom environment. Applicants must have strong human relations skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and proficiency in computer applications and instructional technology. Candidates should possess experience in the field. Candidates should possess knowledge of pedagogical practices and instructional theory, postsecondary vocational and technical education, academic course standards, and college-level academic programs. The ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and the public is essential, along with strong decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Working with Postsecondary is preferred. Experience teaching online or hybrid courses is highly desirable.

Physical Demands: The Instructor must be able to perform routine classroom and instructional duties, including standing or sitting for extended periods while teaching, facilitating discussions, and conducting instructional activities. The position requires regular use of computers, instructional technology, and standard office equipment. The instructor must be able to lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 20 pounds, move between classrooms and campuses as needed, and travel for meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities. Effective verbal communication is essential for classroom instruction, presentations, and interactions with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Background Requirements: Candidates must pass a criminal background check and MVR.

Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience. All new hires are subject to a one-year probationary period
