Job Description:

Under general supervision, inspects and tests retail fuel dispensing devices and fuel storage tanks; also includes regulatory field inspections at retail fueling locations.

The selected candidate must reside in Fulton County, GA or a residing county OR be willing to relocate for consideration.

Job Summary:

  • Registers retail locations and verify that advertised product, pump, and method of sale correspond
  • Verifies all fuel products have correct pricing on all road signage, placards, and pumps
  • Checks antifreeze brands being sold to ensure they are registered with state fuel laboratory
  • Verifies accuracy of fuel dispensers by both volume and monetary indicators according to established procedures
  • Collects, transports, submits fuel samples and prescribed reports to State Fuel Lab for analysis
  • Responds to complaints or requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Checks underground and above ground storage tanks for proper identification, water and other contaminates, cap seals and takes appropriate action to correct situation as required
  • Attends meetings and training seminars as required
  • Maintains State vehicle and all associated equipment
  • Maintains a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business with public

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Must have communication and customer service skills
  • Maintain State vehicle and all equipment related to the job
  • Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • General knowledge of Windows operating system and basic computer skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Selected applicant must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of assigned territory

Physical Demands:

  • Stand for long periods of time; intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. for short periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, pest control, entomology or a closely related field from an accredited college OR High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in the area of assignment OR Two years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences.
