Job Description:

The Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a 4-week residential summer program for skilled, knowledgeable, and talented high school sophomores and juniors. GHP offers instruction designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The instruction GHP provides is legislatively required to be significantly different from what is provided in a typical classroom. See our students in action by visiting the GHP Student Site (ghpstudentsite.com).

Duties & Responsibilities: Instructors for Agricultural Research, Biotechnology, and Science will provide instruction in a comprehensive contemporary program of research-based education for students interested in the agricultural sciences. The courses are modeled for students to learn about opportunities for research and analysis in agricultural sciences. Instruction is organized around ways people are likely to encounter environmental science, agricultural research, and biotechnology in a university setting. The curriculum introduces students to courses and laboratory experiences similar to sophomore/junior level college courses and includes a research project. Students gain knowledge through exploration of topics in soils, hydrology, forestry, natural resources, as well as biotechnology for plants, animals, and the environment. Students will also participate in interdisciplinary courses in chemistry, biology, and physics. By the end of the program, students will have an increased understanding of the complex biological, physical, and socio-economic factors that shape agricultural systems and various professions in agriculture (e.g., the roles of a technician, researcher, food producer, etc.).

Note: GHP provides robust onboarding for our summer faculty and will provide as much information and guidance to support instructors as needed.
