Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Teaching and Learning is recruiting for an experienced Director of Educator Support and Development. Under limited supervision, provides leadership and support for communication and implementation of Department-wide professional learning opportunities, P-20 partnerships, educator recruitment, retention and recognition efforts, and teacher and leader evaluation tools in accordance with the Department of Education's (GaDOE) strategic plan. Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Lead a team of approximately 25 staff members
- Manage complex budgets
- Coordinate with peers in the Department and other agencies
- Coordinate professional learning and delivery
- Evaluate and monitor professional learning effectiveness
- Plan and provide services to schools and school systems
- Develop and foster effective relationships with local school systems and other educational entities
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and research on teacher and leader development
- Human Resources experience
- Teacher mentor/induction experience
- At least 3 years classroom experience
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESSA)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience writing and/or managing grants
- Experience supervising team members
- Experience with implementation of Georgia Standards of Excellence
- Experience with implementation of Georgia's teacher and leader evaluations systems and policies
- Knowledge of data analysis and visualizations
- Supervisory experience as a coach/instructional leader, administrator at the school and/or school district level and/or a Regional Educational Service Agency
- Strong computer skills, including instructional design, learning technologies, social media, and communications
****This is remote/telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Extensive statewide travel required. *Must submit a copy of GaPSC certificate/certification or GaPSC eligibility certificate/certification with cover letter, (application) resume and salary history; applicants who fail to submit required GaPSC documentation will not be considered.
