The purpose of Job Challenge Academy (JCA) is to take select graduates of Youth Challenge Academy (YCA) and provide additional training to augment the training received while enrolled in YCA. Half of the enrolled students will be “court-involved.” The primary training offered by JCA is vocational training and related soft skill training designed to prepare students for successful employment or continuation of training upon completion of the 20-week program.  In addition, to this overarching goal, JCA will continue the training and goals of YCA and will also use a quasi-military model. The Job Academy will reinforce and build upon the lessons instilled within cadets while enrolled at YCA. The persons affected by the Job Challenge Academy program are the at-risk youth of the State of Georgia who are selected. One hundred youth are identified during the YCA residential phase. From these 100 cadets, 50 will be enrolled into Job Challenge at the completion of the YCA residential phase. The scope of this program is enormous in that it sets out to provide a life-changing opportunity for at-risk youth from across Georgia that will have an impact on them for the rest of their lives.
