Job Summary:

Under general supervision, provides working level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, transportation data, environmental or traffic. 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages the collection, processing, and reporting of transportation related data including traffic, traffic fatalities, GPS data, along with HPMS data for Federal Reporting to FHWA.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications

 

Entry Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field AND Six months of related experience

·         OR Associate's degree in a related field AND One year of experience

·         OR One year at position equivalent.

 

Agency Specific Qualifications:

·        Ability to read, interpret, and explain technical journals/manuals, program documentation, aerial photographs, maps, graphs, and charts, preferably       with  a demonstrated knowledge of but not limited to: FHWA's Traffic Monitoring Guide, FHWA’s Highway Performance Monitoring System, FHWA’s     Highway Functional Classification Concepts, Criteria and Procedures

·         OR Three years of professional related experience in a related transportation field.

·         Ability in the use of GIS software, specifically the ESRI ArcGIS Suite, preferably with proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS analysis tools. Examples would   include  but are not limited to linear referencing toolbox, statistical analysis tools, table analysis and data management tools.

·         Knowledge of policy and procedures governing data collection technologies, data collection, coding requirements, and reporting procedures preferably   in transportation data.

·         Knowledge of equipment and hardware/software used to collect and process data, preferably transportation data

·        Ability in the use of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Access; preferably with proficiency including but not limited to: Pivot Tables, nested if     statements, VLOOKUP, SQL, querying, table joining, etc.

·         Ability to identify and solve problems as well as apply innovative solutions to make organizational improvements.

·         Ability to work with staff, consultants, contractors, managers, and other department personnel in a professional and cooperative manner.

·         Displays a high standard of work ethics and commitment toward work.

·         Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, ideas and facts to groups and individuals.

·         Committed to providing quality customer service and public service. 

 

Agency Preferred Qualifications:

·         Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering, GIS, or related field.

·         OR Master’s degree in any field which included at least two courses in statistics or research methods.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL GDOT JOBS

The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection.  In addition to the interview, the final selection is based on the applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation) and, for supervisory positions, demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered.  

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall e-Performance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
