Under supervision, learns to perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.  Analyzes specimens, interprets, records and reports results. Analyzes laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Collects samples and conducts chemical analysis to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components. Defends, interprets, and issues report on results of analysis or testing. Determines and maintains inventory necessary to facilitate smooth operation of the laboratory. Ensures compliance with State and Federal laboratory licensure requirements. Establishes and monitors programs to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results. May develop, standardize, evaluate, and/or modify procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis and experiments. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university AND eligibility for certifications OR Associate’s degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university AND Two years of clinical laboratory experience.

 

Preferred Job-Related Skills: Experience with CLIA requirements and licensing procedures. Public Health experience preferred.

 

Work Conditions & Physical Demands: This position does not require a lot of physical exertion. May require some lifting, but no more than 50 lbs. Not always a sedentary position but will require some walking to/from and in/out of chair. It does require flexibility of working in various areas of the clinic when necessary, and some outreach.

Salary Information: $34,255 annually / Pay Grade I
