The Coweta Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender I. The primary duties include representing indigent juveniles with criminal cases in the Juvenile Court of Troup County. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position and must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Emphasis will be placed upon the candidates’ demonstrated commitment to indigent defense. Preference will be given to candidates who have two or more years of criminal defense experience. Description of Duties: The Juvenile Assistant Public Defender 1 will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position protects children charged with delinquent and other offenses in Juvenile Court through release, trial, and appeal. To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university and a license to practice law in the State of Georgia. Performs other related duties as required.
