Role and responsibilities

Under the direction of a HCV Program/Administrative Manager or Lead, the Housing Processor is responsible for clerical work collecting, processing, printing, verifying documentation and filing. These positions provide a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative and technical work in the administration of the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Maisl, faxes, or emails requests for information and reviews submittals for completeness. Monitors documentation for possible violations and forwards to supervisor. Performs back up to other processing staff. Incumbents require knowledge of HUD and DCA Administrative Plan policies and procedures in order to assist clients and landlords and facilitate the processes.



  1. Provides clear and accurate information over the phone or in person to clients, landlords, and staff.
  2. Creates reports and distributes to appropriate staff.
  3. May processes files and documentation for inspections and certifications; mails out letters and packets to landlords, clients and third-party sources; determines verifications needed. 
  4. Reports matters of violation detected through data verification to the supervisor. May seek confirmation of investigative function by collecting additional data or landlord input.
  5. Uses standard office equipment and computers to prepare reports, spreadsheets, and copies for files and mailings.
  6. Maintains records and files in appropriate locations. 
  7. Provides coverage/backup for other Processors and staff, in their absence; takes and responds to client or landlord inquiries; logs and returns phone messages. 
  8. Greets clients and answers a variety of inquiries; stocks fliers; copies; files. 
  9. May date, stamp mail, distribute mail and fax to appropriate sources; assist with bulk mailing of materials using postage machine.
  10. May perform data entry of inspection results, mail inspection-related notices, and reschedule inspections.
  11. Prepare monthly reports.
  12. Scans files and other information into the appropriate computerized system.
  13. May deliver and pick up mail from the Post Office, if assigned.
  14. Continuously provide excellent customer service.
  15. Perform other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

A High School diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in a public contact/service environment.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs, general office techniques, superior organizational skills. Previous experience working with HUD programs.

Additional Notes

Rarely will travel be necessary.

Master's degree in a social services field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND Three years of related experience OR Four years of related experience.
