Full-Time Instructor - Physical Therapy Assistant

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full Time Instructor (Physical Therapy Assistant) position in the Health & Public Safety Technology department in the Academic & Student Affairs division.  This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.    

 

 

Under general supervision of the Dean of Health & Public Safety Technology, the Full Time Physical Therapy Assistant instructor provides instruction to students.  This role requires a dedicated individual able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

·       Prepares and delivers quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom & clinical settings.

·       Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.

·       Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.

·       Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the PTA field.

·       Offers remediation and additional instructional support to PTA students, as needed.

·       Follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabi.

·       Monitors student use of supplies, materials, and equipment.

·       Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.

·       Maintains classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.

·       Actively engages core faculty clinical education planning, implementation, and assessment.

·       Develops, monitors, and refines the clinical education component of the curriculum.

·       Facilitates quality learning experiences for students during clinical education.

·    Evaluates students' performance, in cooperation with other faculty, to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.

·       Educates students, clinical and academic faculty about clinical education.

·  Selects clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with physical therapy practice.

·       Maximizes available resources for the clinical education program.

·    Provides documented records and assessment of the clinical education component (includes clinical education sites, clinical educators, etc.).

·       Attends meetings as required.

·       Observes and enforces the institution's policies and regulations.

·       Assists with student recruitment and job placement.

·       Serves on committees.

·     Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.

·     Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

·       Assists in the development of reports and other requirements for the program accreditation agencies.

  •         Follows and enforces rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and 
  •        Perform additional duties, as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

·       Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution OR bachelor’s degree in related health or education fields.

·       Three (3) years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist OR Five (5) years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant

·       Must be able to instruct students and handle administrative responsibilities related to the position.

·       Must be energetic, highly motivated, self-directed, open to new ideas and customer focused.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·       Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be give to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

·       Master’s degree in a health education related field.

·       Five (5) or more years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist in diverse specialties.

·       Basic computer and software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

 

Certifications / Licensure:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

·       Physical Therapist OR Physical Therapist Assistant licensed in the state of Georgia.

·       Current APTA specialist certification.
