 Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) - Atlanta Area School for the Deaf located in Clarkston, GA, is recruiting for two Food Service Employees. Under broad supervision, the job responsibilities include but not limited to:

 Description of Duties

  • Prepares meals in a state school cafeteria using specialized equipment
  • Prepares and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and after-school snacks for students and staff
  • Works with managers to ensure the meal management is accurate
  • Implements sanitation and safety procedures in receiving, preparing, storing and serving food
  • Cleans equipment; maintains cleanliness of work area
  • Serves as cashier; enters cash and check deposits from meal purchases into the system; calculates total payments received during shift and reconciles with total sales
  •  Performs other duties as assigned
  • Must be serv safe certified or willing to be within 60 days upon hiring

       **** Nutrition Employees Orientation training must be successfully completed in accordance with Georgia Department of Education requirements within one (1) year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

  • Full-time experience in food preparation and quantity cooking in a full-service restaurant or institutional kitchen
  •  Experience in a commercial food operation (short order, full-service restaurant or institutional)
  • One (1) year of work experience in preparing, cooking and serving food in a food service operation
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation practices in a culinary environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and proficient computer skills

High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in the area of assignment OR One year of experience at the lower level Food Svc Worker 2 (FFS011) or position equivalent.
