Duties & Responsibilities: The Cobb County Community Services Board seeks Certified Peer Specialist to provide direct support services to adult mental health consumers with the goal of assisting clients to self-manage their recovery. Peer Engagement Specialist, using a comprehensive person-centered planning process including 10 health & resiliency factors rooted in 5 key success areas will facilitate the development of individual whole health goals and the implementation of self-managed whole health recovery process.
Job duties include:
1. Acting as client navigator to orient and guide new agency clients upon entry into services
2.Providing direct supportive services aimed at enhancing wellness of the whole person and encouraging client engagement in the treatment process. Developing Person-Centered Goals that use the SMART process to be written into treatment plans.
3.Teaching and modeling self-management behaviors, coping skills, and recovery tools to build resilience for whole health.
4.Providing insight to peers about impact of illness, identification of recovery goals, and coaching toward goal achievement by using own personal recovery story and lived experience.
5.Providing follow-up phone contact with clients for missed appointments to identify barriers to treatment and problem solve with clients to seek solutions to their treatment barriers.
6.Working cooperatively as a member of the treatment team.
7.Completing documentation to reflect client progress toward treatment plan goals for recovery.
Minimum Training & Experience: Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in advocacy or advisory or governance and one (1) continuous year as a current or former recipient of treatment (including mental health/substance abuse treatment or diagnosis) and eligibility for certification as Peer Specialist by the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
Certain positions in this job require a valid Georgia drivers license.
Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications: Certified Peer Specialist certification. Must pass a Drug Test and Criminal Background Check.
